About Us

Helping Hearts People Association

The organization is working in the fields of Health, Education, Children issues, Community development, Women empowerment, environmental issues and relief measures during natural disaster.

Helping Hearts People Association Chengalpattu Society was formed on 7th January 2022 at Chengalpattu District, by group of women. All the members of society are people living with HIV AIDS and professionals Social workers The Helping Hearts People Association-Chengalpattu social welfare organization mainly works in the field Health, Education, empowerment and Environmental issues (Relief Activity & relief measures during natural disaster). The organization is doing various health improvement activities at the field level, especially for the people living with HIV/AIDS, TB and other communicable and non-communicable diseases. Having worked on treatment, rights, capacity building, livelihood issues and social acceptance issues since 2 years, HHPA also works among rural and urban communities on a micro level of health & development issues in Chengalpattu district.

OUR VISION

The vision of our organisation is “Empowering and development of Societal Marginalized community in the Aspects of Health and Education and livelihood. and emerging as leaders through Planned actions leading to equality and growth and be involved in keeping with the principles of greater involvement of people living with HIV/AIDS (GIPA)and also the TB and Cancer Survivors.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the organization is for marginalized members of society to bring the equality in their rights and responsibilities and also empower them by promoting their standard of health and education. .




Our Programs

Health Awareness Programs

The support group meeting will provide the members with a platform to share their problems and concerns about confidentiality and teach each other how to cope. The support group meeting will help to strengthen knowledge on HIV/AIDS, TB related issues and develop the community. This year, we conducted three support group meetings and around 55 people participated in the meetings.

Counselling support for People Living with HIV/AIDS & Tuberculosis

The society has provided counseling support to 30 PLHIV, TB and cancer survivor on various issues. The issues include:

Counseling on HIV/TB treatment related questions.

Discordant couple counseling, especially on Safe Sex and condom promotion,

Nutrition counseling for TB Survivor.

Key population counseling, especially on Safe Sex and condom usage,

Children and Adolescent Treatment Education Counseling.

ART Treatment Adherence Counseling.

Formation of Self Help Groups

The society has formed one women's self help group in the chengalpattu district. Monthly one meeting was conducted for the members of the women self help group. Each one was encouraged to pay a monthly subscription to open the bank account with the self help group. The society will form more such women's self help groups in future. They are also encouraged to start small business such as tailoring, making soap, arts and crafts materials, etc,. This will empower the women to become economically independent.

Pongal Celebration-2024

The NGO organized a vibrant Pongal celebration, bringing together members of the community to take part in traditional rituals and cultural activities. It was celebrated to celebrate and preserve the cultural heritage associated with Pongal, to foster community spirit and unity through shared festivities, and to educate and engage participants in the significance of Pongal rituals. Workshops were conducted to educate participants, especially the younger generation, about the agricultural significance and historical roots of Pongal. Interactive sessions and storytelling helped connect participants with the cultural aspects of the festival. The active involvement of local businesses and organizations added to the overall success of the celebration.

Skill Training Program

We have organized a Mat making training program for vulnerable women. We train vulnerable individuals and groups by exposing them to various domain-level skills and teaching them to make various products so that they become independent and can take care of themselves and their families.

Mensural Health Awareness program

We have organized the Mensural Health Awareness Program among various women self-help groups in Ullavur village. The main aim of conducting an awareness program is to make people understand that menstrual health and hygiene (MHH) is essential to the well-being and empowerment of women and adolescent girls. On any given day, more than 300 million women worldwide are menstruating. In total, an estimated 500 million people lack access to menstrual products and adequate facilities for menstrual hygiene management (MHM). To effectively manage their menstruation, girls and women require access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities, affordable and appropriate menstrual hygiene materials, information on good practices, and a supportive environment where they can manage menstruation without embarrassment or stigma.

Flood relief material distribution during floods

Food and other items were distributed along with support to the affected people in the floods. Necessary food and other items were bought and distributed to them.

Distribution of nutritional food

To improve the health of the women and children in the village, nutritional food was distributed on a regular basis. by our NGO.
